What is the dose of Smecta® (Diosmectite) for an adult?
Acute Diarrhea
(1 sachet = 3g Smecta®)
An average of 3 sachets per day, mixed with half a glass of water. In the case of acute diarrhea, the daily dosage can be doubled at the beginning of treatment.
What is the dose of Smecta® (Diosmectite) for a child?
Acute Diarrhea
(1 sachet = 3g Smecta®)
Under 1 year: 1 sachet per day.
Between 1 and 2 years: 1 to 2 sachets per day.
Over 2 years: 2 to 3 sachets per day.
How is Smecta® (Diosmectite) available?
Smecta® (Diosmectite) is available in the following dosage forms and strengths:
Sachet (powder for oral) 3g.
What should I do in case of an emergency or overdose?
In case of an emergency or an overdose, call your local emergency services (115) or go to your nearest emergency room.
What should I do if I miss a dose?
This medication usually is taken as needed. If your doctor has asked you to take Smecta® regularly, you should take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
